KIBURI: A SWAHILI WORD

MEANING PRIDE.

This year we are introducing the Kiburi Award. Many native Cincinnatians with roots and deep connections to the city and our community have moved away. Some have returned and others stay where they are and continue to make Cincinnati proud with their contributions to the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.  Cincy Black Pride's co-founder Tim'm West, made Cincy his home in 2017 after decades away and has been among our most proud ambassadors. So this year and going forward, we will honor the movers and shakers from Cincy who are proud to honor their roots here. They say "wherever you go, there you are"; and we are proud of these amazing leaders who share the best of who we are with the world.

The Kiburi Awards will be given at the Cincy Black Pride Virtual Kickoff on Friday, June 26th between 8:00PM - 10:00PM EST. More details on the platform and registration for this awards ceremony will be available on June 12, 2020.
